How to setup SSO for Okta (Open ID Connect)

About Okta SSO

XY Sense supports Identity Provider - Initiated Authentication Flow (IdP).Any Okta users with a permission granted by Okta organisation administrator is able to sign in to XY Sense cloud platform. Access to XY Sense cloud platform will be managed by the Okta organisation administrator. XY Sense users' settings are managed by the Customer Administrator on the XY Sense side.

Prerequisite

You need to be an administrator of your Okta organisation to complete the integration.

 

Register XY Sense Application in Okta

  1. Login to your Okta Admin account
  2. Click on the Application tab and select Applications.

  1. Click on the Add Application button and click on Create New App to create a new application for XY Sense
  2. On the Create New Application page, select the Web application and click Next

  1. On the Application Settings page
    1. Enter XY Sense as the Application Name
    2. Enter https://xyapp-master.auth.ap-southeast-2.amazoncognito.com/oauth2/idpresponse as Redirect URI

  1. Click Done at the bottom of the page. 

Gather Required App Values

  • Client ID
  • Client secret
  • Issuer
  1. Record the Client ID and Client Secret values under the General tab of your new application as this is required when configuring OIDC in XY Sense Portal via Admin Settings
  2. Record the Issuer URL

Assign the XY Sense App to Okta Users

In order for XY Sense App users to leverage Okta's login capability with XY Sense, you must assign the XY Sense app to your organisation's users in Okta. For information on assigning applications to users in Okta, please refer to the Using the Applications Page documentation in Okta.

Enable SSO in XY Application

Once you have assigned the XY Sense app to Okta users, you can then activate SSO for your organisation in the XY Sense Application via the Admin SSO settings console.
