Types of Hubs

There are two types of hubs, as listed below:

  1. Primary Hub

Provides power to the sensors and acts as a gateway for the communication of data from the sensors, via a wireless data router (with antennas). This can also be connected to a Secondary Hub(s), to provide a gateway for data for sensors connected to that Secondary Hub.  There is typically one Primary Hub per floor.

  1. Secondary Hub

Although separately powered, it requires a Cat5 connection to a Primary Hub, to enable use of the Primary Hub’s data gateway (via the router) for communications from its sensors. There can be up to four Secondary Hubs connected to a Primary Hub.
