To support future enhancements & updates to the XY Sense Area Sensors, from 2022 we have implemented an installation policy change to limit the total number of sensors connected to a single Hub (primary or secondary) to a maximum of 18.
For planned and future installations, our Primary and Secondary Hubs will now support a maximum of 18 sensors per hub.
Each Hub supports:
- a maximum of 6 sensors on each daisy chain
- A maximum of 18 sensors on Hub
This change will ensure Hubs will continue to operate and perform with reserve capacity even when XY Sense provides new functionality and features to the Area Sensors (where sensors may run at higher processing speeds and consume more power).
Our lab testing shows no performance or safety issues presented by current installations in the field. We are making this change out of an abundance of caution to future-proof hardware for planned feature releases.
Please refer here for a detail table of capacities.
Impact on completed installations
There is no impact on completed installations.
Our testing shows no current performance or safety issues for Hubs with greater than 18 sensors connected. We will actively monitor performance and firmware upgrades to communicate any future impacts.
If you are on a HaaS subscription, as part of your subscription we will upgrade your Hubs to future versions as they become available.
Impact on planned installations
Installation plans for recent orders (where a PO has been received) will be revised to reflect a maximum of 18 sensors per Hub.
Where additional Hubs are required under the new installation policy, the XY Sense Customer Success team will be in touch to advise on required changes to wiring plans and order details.
