Conducting a Site Walkthrough

Why do we do a site walkthrough?

We conduct a site walkthrough to get an understanding of the space where the XY Sense sensors will be installed. Site walkthroughs are particular important as the XY Sense sensor requires line of sight to areas which we want to track occupancy. 

When should we do a site walkthrough?

The site walkthrough should happen prior to the site installation, this can ensure that adequate planning can be made based on the outcomes of the walkthrough. 

What has happened prior to a site walkthrough?

Prior to the site walkthrough the client will have provided plans to XY Sense. XY Sense or the XY Sense Partner will have created a Proposed Sensor Layout PSL, this will be referenced during the site walkthrough.

What do we want to accomplish by doing the site walkthrough?

• Confirm that the plans are up to date and accurate 
• Verify the scale on the plan is correct
• Are any additional sensors needed to get the desired coverage?
• Confirm the installation location on the Communication Hub(s)
• Confirm if power outlets need to be installed for the Communication Hubs 
• Confirm the ceiling types at each proposed sensor location 
• Ensure that the sensors can all be installed in their proposed location
  • If sensors need to be moved, do additional sensors need to be installed for coverage?
• Is there sufficient cellular reception at the potential Hub locations?
• Confirm the mounting option for all sensors - advise XY Sense how many sensors require rod mount attachments 
• Ensure there are no obstructions to the line of sight for any sensor, please refer here for a list of possible obstructions to be mindful of.
